On Sunday 24th May we celebrated our four year anniversary as a group by putting on an adventure day at the near by Salcey forest. The day would not only be a fun filled get together, we were also raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Meeting nice and early in the forest at 8.30am and headed to the unique tree top way, a structure raising from ground level to 20 meters high amongst the tops of the trees offering stunning woodland views. It is designed in such a way that it bounces and shakes as you go along making running very interesting.
We first held individual time trials where everyone had two attempts to get to the top and back down as quickly as possible. The fastest time on the day came from Stephen Croft in a speedy 1 minute 47 seconds. The fastest lady was Linda Jones in 2 minutes 40 seconds.
We then made teams of 5 for relays. One member from each team would take it in turns to run up and back down as many times as they could in 40 minutes.
After this we moved to the Tree Ninja arial assault course. We split into two groups. While half the group got kitted up and went through the safety briefing before taking on the 4 meter, 8 meter, 10 meter and 12 meter high courses the other group went through a coach circuit session using dum bells and bar bells made from the forest’s wood, tyres, sandbags and versions bodyweight exercises.
After the circuits we did some fun, yet quite competitive races carrying the sandbags then the groups swapped round.
Several hours later everyone joined back together for a well earned BBQ.
A top quality day had by all raising £262 for the charity.
