London marathon and member of the week (April- week 5)

The Super Seven!

On Sunday 26th April 7 Parklands Jog and Run members were among the world record breaking 38,000 taking on the Virgin Money London marathon.

First over the finish line in a very respectable 223rd position was David Green smashing almost 6 minutes off his PB & breaking his own PJR record in the process with a top quality time of 2.37.07. David was chasing down the worlds greatest ever female marathon runner in Paula Radcliffe and ended up just 12 seconds behind her.

Next in was our group leader Chris Lamb who ran an evenly paced race to record a time of 2.46.12 which was a PB by almost 3 minutes.

Then came Matt Brand who knocked a massive 6 minutes off his previous best with a clocking of 3.05.34.

Matt was followed by marathon debutant Dan Gosling who recorded a great first time effort of 3.19.20.

Then came our only female runner on the day Charlotte Yarker who was just outside her PB but still well within her target of sub 4 hours with a time of 3.55.51.

Marc Marshal was next in stopping the clock at 4.24.42 on his first ever marathon.

And our final runner over the line was Lee Chilvers. After an accident several years ago Lee was told by doctors he may never run again yet he defied the odds once again to complete his first ever marathon in 5.15.39.

Massive congratulations to each and every one of you. You all achieved something truly amazing and for that this week’s member of the week goes to all 7 of you.
